What is Current Concepts in Ophthalmology course?
The Current Concepts in Ophthalmology course is designed to be an exercise wherein participants will build upon their ophthalmology knowledge by integrating important concepts in ophthalmologic diseases and processes that are relevant to a competent ophthalmology practice. Participants will attend a three and half hour session presented by well-recognized leaders in ophthalmology.
The Current Concepts sessions are designed to be interactive and are not as rigidly structured as the concurrently running Comprehensive Review of Ophthalmology course.

The unique strength of the Current Concepts in Ophthalmology course lies in the opportunity the course provides for participants to learn from individuals who are not only leaders in ophthalmology but also reputed for their teaching abilities. Each session of three and half hours duration will be presented by one speaker,
therefore there will be ample time for participants to learn important concepts at a measured pace from the distinguished invited faculty.

The Current Concepts in Ophthalmology course is not intended to be a Board review course. The course organizers have asked the invited faculty to cover important concepts that will help participants in their ophthalmology practice. Although this course will cover most
important topics within each ophthalmic specialty, the coverage may not be as exhaustive or structured as in the concurrently running Comprehensive Review of Ophthalmology course.
Who will lecture in the Comprehensive Review of Ophthalmology course?
We have invited leaders in ophthalmology who have distinguished themselves not only as expert ophthalmologists but also gifted teachers. A partial listing of the faculty includes: Dr. David Guyton from Wilmer Eye Institute, The Johns Hopkins, Dr. Robert Nussenblatt from National Eye Institutes, Dr. Joseph Rizzo from Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School and Dr.

Can a participant attend some lectures in Comprehensive Review of Ophthalmology course and some lectures in Current Concepts in Ophthalmology course?
Yes. In fact, this is the uniqueness of the Illinois Eye Review. A participant can identify the area of knowledge weakness and can attend the Comprehensive Review lectures as well as Current Concepts lectures in that area of weakness.
By providing participants the decision making on which courses and what course combinations to attend, the Illinois Eye Review allows for learner-centered choices.
