What is Comprehensive Review of Ophthalmology course?
In this course, essential facts about ophthalmologic diseases will be presented in a rapid-fire fashion by the faculty of Illinois Eye & Ear Infirmary. Participants will be immersed in information which will be primarily factual in nature. With this type of information participants will be able to build a strong knowledgebase about ophthalmologic diseases and processes. While this course may be suited for residents and fellows who desire to refresh their ophthalmology knowledge prior to appearing for ophthalmology board examinations, the maximum benefit of
Illinois Eye reviews will be realized if participants build upon their enhanced factual knowledge with the concurrently running current concepts course.
The Comprehensive Review of Ophthalmology course will follow a formally structured outline to ensure maximum coverage.
While the course format will allow question/answer time after each lecture, the emphasis will not be on interactive teaching, but rather on knowledge immersion.

Based on their extensive clinical teaching experience, the faculty of Comprehensive Review of Ophthalmology course have identified high-yield topics covering all ophthalmology specialties. These include: Cornea/External Diseases, Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, Optics, Neuro-ophthalmology, Uveitis, Glaucoma,

Who will lecture in the Comprehensive Review of Ophthalmology course?
Faculty of the Illinois Eye & Ear Infirmary who are board-certified in Ophthalmology and have extensive clinical teaching experience will lecture.
These faculty are currently involved in resident and fellow training. Amongst them, the Illinois Eye & Ear Infirmary faculty have written several well-recognized textbooks of ophthalmology.
What is the difference between Comprehensive Review of Ophthalmology course and the concurrently running Current Concepts in Ophthalmology course?
The Current Concepts in Ophthalmology course is designed to be an exercise wherein participants will build upon their ophthalmology knowledge by integrating important concepts in ophthalmologic diseases and processes that are relevant to a competent ophthalmology practice. Participants will attend a three and half hour session presented by well-recognized leaders in ophthalmology. The Current Concepts sessions are designed
to be interactive and are not as rigidly structured as the Comprehensive Review of Ophthalmology course.
Can a participant attend some lectures in Comprehensive Review of Ophthalmology course and some lectures in Current Concepts in Ophthalmology course?
Yes. In fact, this is the uniqueness of the Illinois Eye Review. A participant can identify the area of knowledge weakness and can attend the Comprehensive Review lectures as well as Current Concepts lectures in that area of weakness.
By providing participants the decision making on which courses and what course combinations to attend, the Illinois Eye Review allows for learner-centered choices.
